Animation of One Dimensional Waves

High school students find it difficult to understand basic wave phenomena, like: the time and space dependence concept, the difference between propagating waves and standing waves, superposition principle. This project is an animation of one-dimensional waves in which the student can:

  1. Watch the movement of a single point of the medium when a transverse wave propagates in it.
  2. Watch two waves propagating in opposite directions on the same line without mutual interruption.
  3. Watch how a new wave, which is their vectoric sum, is created.
  4. Realize that this wave, which was created as the sum of waves with the same wavelength and the same amplitude, is not propagating.

This project uses Microsoft PowerPoint97 for PC machines with Windows 95.
