Targil 4

This targil is to be handed in to Dr Adler by 18:00 on 11/1/17. Late targilim will be penalised as usual. Some of you may find it very easy. This is OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but take care with labels and axes.

Questions 1 and 2 can be done with MATHEMATICA or MAPLE only. For the moment you will need to use MATHEMATICA by preparing graphs and viewing them later to pdf or png, like in this example References for this targil are the Mathematica book or website and The Handbook of Mathematical Functions.

I take points off for axes without labels, wrong labels plots without captions or titles and answering the wrong question.

1. Plot the Legendre polynomial Pn(x) for n=10 as a function of x for -1<x<1. Please think what you need to do here - how many polynomials, for which values of x and n. If you have doubts please ask me.

2. Calculate and plot the values of the Legendre polynomial and its derivative for x=.66 and n=1,2,3,....10. Please think what you need to do here - how many polynomials, for which values of x and n. If you have doubts please ask me.

For question 3 you may use any language, including Fortran or MATLAB.

3. Calculate the integral $I=\int_{0}^3(1+t)^{1/2}dt$. This question might be very easy for some of you. That is OK.

Please hand in all answers with the text handwritten or printed as you prefer. There is no need to print the text of answers, but I want you to print the graphs this time. As an alternative to paper submission you may write the website address on a piece of paper and hand in that page only.
